Machine Preparation:
- Insert a HUSQVARNA® VIKING® Universal size 90/14 needle into your machine.
- Attach the Interchangeable Dual Feed Foot.
- Thread machine & bobbin with coordinating sewing 50wt cotton sewing thread.
- Select a straight stitch with a length of 2.5mm.
Instructions:
- Fold the beach towel in half on the long side.
- Fold the beach towel in half again on the short side.
- Using a measuring tape, measure 3" from the folded corner point & mark with a marking pen.
- Repeat the same process on the other straight side.
- With the measuring tape at the corner fold, measure 3" around to create a 1/4" dashed circle as shown in the photo below marking lines with a marking pen.
- Using a marking pen connect the lines marked to create a 1/4" circle.
- Using your 8" bent trimmer scissors cut around the 1/4" circle through all 4 layers.
- Unfold the beach towel completely & there should be a full circle in the middle.
- Fold the towel in half on the long side. There should be a half circle in the middle.
- Using your Steam Iron & Ironing Board press the fold to create a crease as shown in the photo below.
- Using a measuring tape & marking pin mark a dash 5" from the circle on the iron pressed line.
- Using your 8" bent trimmer scissors cut an opening down the 5" dash mark.
- Turn the towel to the wrong side.
- Open up the 1/2" bias tape & starting at the bottom slit on one side clip or pin the raw edge of the bias tape to the raw edge of the beach towel. Continue this process all the way around to the bottom of the other side slit.
- Starting on one side of the bottom slit, place the needle in the down position on the 1/2" bias fold line.
- Start sewing around the head opening along the 1/2" bias fold. Removing pins or clips as you sew.
Pro-Tip: As you get to a curve, place the needle in the down position to adjust the bias tape without losing your place.
Pro-Tip: Work in 2" - 3" increments to work the bias tape around the curve. Use the safety stiletto as needed to hold the bias tape down.
- Cut off excess bias tape so that the ends are even with the slit opening.
- Turn the beach towel over to the right side.
- Fold over the bias tape & pin or clip in place all the way around.
- Using a 1/8" seam allowance sew around the opening on the bias tape to attach, starting at the bottom of the slit opening.
- Cut 2 - 2 1/2" pieces of bias tape.
- On both pieces open the folded bias tape once. Fold the corners in 1/4" to create a point, press with your steam iron and ironing board.
- Fold the points in towards the center, as shown in the photo below & press with your steam iron & ironing board.
- Turn over the beach towel to the wrong side.
- Place the fabric square over the raw edges of the bias tape at the bottom of the slit opening. Pin or clip in place.
- Sew around the square to secure using a 1/8" seam allowance.
- Repeat steps #21-#27 on the right side of the beach towel.
Embroidery Instructions:
- Remove the Interchangeable Dual Feed Foot & attach the Sensor Q foot.
- Insert a Husqvarna Viking embroidery needle size 90/14 into the machine.
- Thread the machine with Robison Anton 40wt rayon embroidery thread & bobbin thread.
- Hoop INSPIRA Aqua Magic Stabilizer and beach towel with INSPIRA Dissolve-A-Way Ma stabiliser on top using the magnets to secure.
- Load your personalised embroidery design.
- Attach the embroidery hoop to the embroidery arm.
- Stitch out your desired embroidery design onto the beach towel.
- Remove the embroidery hoop from the embroidery arm.
- Remove the beach towel & stabiliser from the embroidery hoop.
- Cut around the INSPIRA Aqua Magic Stabiliser close to the embroidery design.
- Pull off the excess INSPIRA Dissolve-A-Way Max stabiliser from the top of the towel.
- Follow the provided stabiliser instructions for washing to remove the remaining stabiliser.
