What is the Roller Foot and how to use it

Have you ever had trouble with sewing on uneven surfaces or with textured fabrics? Then the Husqvarna Viking Roller foot is perfect for you.

As the name suggests, the Roller foot has 4 rollers inserted into the foot, a bit like a car has four wheels When the Roller foot is attached to your machine, the rollers allow the fabric to feed easier under the foot, while the feed dogs grip the fabric from underneath. This makes stitching on these fabrics effortless and eliminates any sticking to the fabric.

The Roller foot is perfect to use with vinyls, leathers, velvets and any other fabrics with naps or loops. Heavier or thicker quantities of fabric are also a breeze to sew when using this foot, feeding in a smooth and even fashion.

The Roller foot is best used with any forward motion stitch, such as a straight stitch, zig-zag or any other forward motion utility or decorative stitch.

Instructions for use:

1 - Snap on the Roller Foot

2 - Select any forward motion stitch and sew.

Conclusion:

Is the Roller Foot just for thick fabrics? No, you can also use the roller foot with slippery fabrics like chiffon or stretch fabrics with a nap, such as stretch velvet. As always, take the time to sew a sample to find to right stitch length, stitch width and tension to suit your needs.

The Roller Foot part number is H4129902-45 and is suitable for all models from 1-9. It is available online, or at your nearest Husqvarna Viking dealer.
